Dr Jeff Christiansen
Jeff is Co-Director of Australian BioCommons (Engagements and Operations). He leads the Engagement team, who collectively aim to ensure that appropriate infrastructure is established at a national level to support Australian life research communities. Additionally, Jeff leads the Operations team who ensure things run as smoothly as possible.
Jeff has a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Queensland, and started his career conducting research in the fields of cancer, molecular genetics and embryo development. He has since held many community facing roles in the UK and Australia, all focused on developing computational infrastructure to support health and life science research at scale.
Jeff aims to ensure that Australian researchers can participate fully in a global life science digital ecosystem as first class citizens, and focuses on setting an inclusive culture of community engagement. Outside of work, Jeff likes to get outside amongst nature and enjoys yoga and making art.
Jeff’s position is funded by Bioplatforms Australia, and hosted by the University of Melbourne.
Jeff is physically based in Brisbane where his office space is provided by QCIF and RCC at the University of Queensland.
